S&P revises Wipro outlook to positive; Infosys to 'BBB+'

Wipro has been resilient during the global economic downturn and has improved profitability by increasing operating efficiency. - We affirmed the
'BBB' long-term corporate credit rating on Wipro. - The positive outlook reflects our view of expected improvement in Wipro's operating performance resulting in free operating cash flow of more than INR50 billion annually in the next two years.

Standard & Poor's Ratings Services today revised its outlook on India-based information technology (IT) service provider Wipro Ltd to positive from stable. At the same time, Standard & Poor's affirmed its 'BBB' long-term corporate credit rating on Wipro.
The outlook revision reflects Wipro's resilience to the global economic crisis and the company's ability to improve its operating performance despite the downturn. "We believe Wipro's operating performance is likely to improve further, resulting in positive free operating cash flows of more than INR50 billion annually in next two years," said Standard & Poor's credit analyst Suzanne Smith. Twitter buys SMS start-up Cloudhopper

Twitter has further expanded its operations in the mobile space with the purchase of SMS technology start up Cloudhopper for an undisclosed sum.

Twitter's mobile business development director, Kevin Thau, explained in a blog post yesterday that the micro-blogging service was originally inspired by SMS, and that Twitter's 140-character limit was designed to allow any tweet to be read on any mobile device.More...

Satyam still risky a year after fraud revealed: Forrester

Over a year after Indian outsourcer Satyam Computer Services reported a major financial fraud at the company, research firm Forrester still cautions customers doing business with it.

Satyam has a new owner, Tech Mahindra, which took over the management from the middle of last year.

But clients should keep an eye on Satyam's ongoing problems such as high attrition, cultural differences between the new management and old Satyam staffers, and risks arising from the unavailability of the company's audited financials, Forrester said in a report.More...

Yahoo India to move over 200 search engineers to Microsoft

Yahoo India has started the transfer to Microsoft of engineers working in the area of search and search advertising. The transfer is part of Microsoft's deal with Yahoo by which the software maker's Bing search engine will be used to power Yahoo searches while Yahoo will sell premium advertising for both companies.

Over 200 engineers from Yahoo India will move to a development center that Microsoft has set up in Bangalore to focus on development and research for its Online Services Division (OSD), Satya Nadella , a Microsoft senior vice president for research and development, told reporters on Thursday. Buying a second-hand car has become hassle-free, courtesy the presence of corporate players like Maruti Suzuki's [ Images ] True Value and Mahindra and Mahindra's First Choice.

 

Others like Hyundai [ Images ] Motors and Ford [ Images ] India also sell used cars through their dealers. These even provide a one-year warranty and some free services.

But the buyer of a second-hand car needs to be aware of some things.

Google has refreshed its online word processing (Google Documents) and spreadsheet (Google Spreadsheets) applications. In the process, it has put Microsoft on notice: realtime collaboration and online-only software are here to stay.

Fake and stolen facebook accounts

Researchers at VeriSign’s iDefense division tracking the digital underworld say bogus and stolen accounts on the Facebook social-networking service
are now on sale in high volume on the black market.

During several weeks in February, iDefense tracked an effort to sell log-in data for 1.5 million Facebook accounts on several online criminal marketplaces, including one called Carder.su. More...

China won't allow anonymous online comments

BEIJING: China will bring to an end anonymous online comments and "harmful information" on the Internet would be monitored, an official said.
