Give a meaning to all your JUNK

by Guest 6/13/2008 6:01:24 PM

Do you have any unused items at your house? or in your office? We all have them. I have my P2 Computer that I purchased 10 years ago. I have dresses full of two bags, which are good but doesn't fit me any more. I have bunch of CDs and DVDs, some having trail version software that I never used. Some old movies and songs that I am bored of. And my list grows on.. We will have some unused items which have some value. I can go ahead and dump my old computer in garbage as it is of no use to me. It can only take Windows 98, and has 32 MB RAM with 2 GB Hard Disk. I already have a Dual Core Laptop with highend configuration. What do I do with my old computer? I think of throwing it away, but feel bad as I worked on it in my early days.. and don't like to see it in garbage.. If I can find someone in need of my old computer, I am ready to give it to them.. 'FreeCycle.Org' did help me with my wish.

FreeCycle has over 4500 groups and over 50 lakhs registered users. Each group typically relates to a city or place. For example, I have this Pune FreeCycle group for people living in and around Pune. If you join in any group, you can send information about your unused items, or ask for some items in need. People interested in your post will contact you and you can share your needs/items. This is simple and yet effective.

Now, I have given away my P2 to a rural school near Pune. Kids in that school use it play games and learn basics of computers. I really feel happy to have done this and FreeCycle indeed deserves a big Thank You! If you also want to start FreeCycling, search for your nearest group in FreeCycle. You just need to find a group near to you and register in the corresponding yahoo group. That's it.

Thanks,
Amit Gosh
