Proof for 3=2

" Proof for 3=2 à from Ramanujam's diary!"

Ramanujam's proof !! .... can u find any flaws??

Can U Prove 3=2??

This seems to be an anomaly or whatever u call in mathematics.

It seems, Ramanujam found it but never disclosed it during his life time

and that it has been found from his di
ary.

See this illustration:

-6 = -6

9-15 = 4-10

adding 25/4 to both sides:

9-15+(25/4) = 4-10+(25/4 )

Changing the order

9+(25/4)-15 = 4+(25/4)-10

(this is just like : a square + b square - two a b = (a-b)square. )

Here a = 3, b=5/2 for L.H.S and a =2, b=5/2 for R.H.S.

So it can be expressed as follows:

(3-5/2)(3-5/ 2) = (2-5/2)(2-5/ 2)

Taking positive square root on both sides:

3 - 5/2 = 2 - 5/2

3 = 2

ANY FLAWS??????? ???????

A nice one! But I guess this is not from Ramanujam's book.. it's a simple math trick blinding the user in seeing the truth..

You could be correct till this step: 9+(25/4)-15 = 4+(25/4)-10

However, from the above equation, L.H.S need not be a=3 and b=5/2, it could also be a=-3 and b=-5/2.

If you take these values and proceed,

(-3 -(-5/2)) = (2 - 5/2)
-3 + 5/2 = 2 - 5/2
(5/2) + (5/2) = 2 + 3
10/2 = 5
5 = 5

Does this hold good?? Smile You see.. math can never be wrong.. if it could be, the world won't be like as it is.. math is the piller of our life!!

Congratz Swetha... I too guess this is not from Ramanujam's book. I could see another flaw there.

(3-5/2)(3-5/2) = (2-5/2)(2-5/2)
Taking positive square root on both sides:
3 - 5/2 = 2 - 5/2

In above part, RHS they are taking negative square root (2 - 5/2) instead of (5/2 - 2). If they take it correctly, it will hold good

3 - 5/2 = 5/2 - 2
0.5 = 0.5
