Royal Bank of Scotland - is it a Spam mail?

by Guest 4/5/2010 8:04:00 AM

This morning I got a mail from Royal Bank of Scotland with a PDF Attachment of my statement account. Interesting thing to note is, I never had an account with RBS. I received some pishing mails in the past from Bank of America and few others. But those were easy to spot. They asked me to click some link or verify something. All of them were good food for my spam filter.

I was about to mark this as Spam too. But realized that this doesn't ask me to click on any weird links and even states my full name correctly. I curiously verified email headers and found ABN Amro Bank id. I googled a bit and came to know that ABN Amro has been acquired by RBS and legal separation is complete. Probably this is the statement of my ABN Amro Bank.

I just wonder, why don't these big corporates take time and create awareness about what is happening to their customers.. I am sure many others would have clicked that spam button today!
